Mussels Marinere

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any debris. Remove the beards by pulling them towards the hinge of the shell.

  2. 2

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced shallots and garlic, and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they are fragrant and translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Wine and Mussels

Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover with a lid, and let them steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.

  4. 4

    Add Lemon and Season

Once the mussels are cooked, add the lemon juice, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine and allow to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the mussels immediately in bowls, ladling the broth over them. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.
