Burger Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Cook the burger patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Preparing Toppings

  1. 5

    Prepare the Smoked Poblano Pepper

Roast the smoked poblano pepper over an open flame or under a broiler until the skin is charred. Remove from heat, let cool, then peel, seed, and slice.

  2. 6

Slice the hot link sausage in half lengthwise and grill or pan-fry it until browned and heated through.

  3. 7

    Prepare the Jalapeños

Slice fresh jalapeños into rings. Adjust the amount to your spice preference.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 8

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 9

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a cooked burger patty, top with a piece of smoked poblano pepper, hot link, jalapeños, a generous drizzle of Art's hot BBQ sauce, and a sprinkle of cheddar-jack cheese. Place the top half of the bun on.
