Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs using a paper towel for grip. This will help the ribs cook evenly and absorb the rub better.

Dry Rub

  1. 2

    Make the Dry Rub

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.

  2. 3

    Apply the Rub

Generously rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring to coat both sides. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

BBQ Sauce

  1. 4

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).

  2. 6

    Bake the Ribs

Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs with another piece of foil to keep them moist. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the ribs are tender.

  3. 7

    Apply BBQ Sauce

Remove the ribs from the oven, discard the top foil, and brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes, basting with more sauce halfway through.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for about 10 minutes. Cut between the bones to separate the ribs and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
