In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk to combine. Gradually add cold water, mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.

Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish for easy coating during the breading process.

Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off before placing the ring into the breadcrumbs.

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
