Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indent in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and add a slice of American cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Veggies

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and red onion into thin rings. Wash the lettuce leaves and set aside.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns (optional)

If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
