Method
Preparing the Brownie Batter
- 1
Melt the Butter
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 2
Mix Sugars and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and the melted butter. Stir until well combined. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- 3
Combine Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 4
Add Chocolate Chips
If using, fold in the chocolate chips gently into the brownie batter.
Baking the Brownies
- 5
Prepare the Baking Pan
Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
- 6
Bake
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 7
Cool
Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving the Brownies
- 8
Slice and Serve
Once cooled, cut the brownies into squares. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and drizzle with chocolate sauce if desired.
