Buns and Patties

Toppings

Optional Chicken Substitute

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mixing the Ground Beef

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Shaping the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, slightly larger than the hamburger buns.

  3. 3

    Preheating the Grill

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. 4

    Cooking the Patties

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  5. 5

    Adding Cheese

If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Preparing the Buns and Toppings

  1. 6

    Toasting the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Preparing Toppings

Wash and shred the lettuce. Slice the tomato and onion into rings.

  3. 8

    Setting Up Pickles

Arrange pickles on a plate and set aside.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 9

    Adding Condiments

Spread mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

  2. 10

    Adding Patties

Place the cooked patties on top of the condiments.

  3. 11

    Adding Toppings

Layer the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on top of the patty.

  4. 12

    Completing the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently.

Optional Chicken Substitute

  1. 13

    Cooking the Chicken

If using grilled chicken, season the chicken breast with salt and pepper, then grill until cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side.

  2. 14

    Assembling the Chicken Burger

Assemble the burger in the same manner as the beef burger, substituting the patty with the grilled chicken breast.
