Method
Preparing the Pork
- 1
Season the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Make sure to cover all sides evenly.
- 2
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is tender and shreds easily with a fork.
Finishing the Dish
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Using two forks, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
- 4
Mix with BBQ Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix in the BBQ sauce. Let it warm through for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- 5
Prepare the Buns
While the pork is warming, prepare the hamburger buns by toasting them lightly if desired.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwiches
Place a generous portion of the BBQ pulled pork on each bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles as desired.
