Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.

  2. 3

    Add the Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate the Cheese

Stir in the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, along with the mustard powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the cheeses are fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

Assemble the Bowl

  1. 5

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.

  2. 6

    Layer the Toppings

In serving bowls, add a generous portion of the mac and cheese, then top with pulled pork or sliced chicken. Drizzle BBQ sauce over the top and sprinkle with shredded cheddar-jack cheese.

  3. 7

    Optional Brisket

For an additional cost, substitute brisket for pulled pork or chicken, layering it on top of the mac and cheese along with the BBQ sauce and cheese.
