Brewing Instructions
- 1
Preparation
Start by sanitizing all your equipment to prevent any contamination.
- 2
Mashing
In a large pot, heat 5 liters of water to around 65°C (149°F). Add the Pilsner malt and maintain the temperature for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3
Sparging
After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to extract the sugars. Collect the wort in a clean kettle.
- 4
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil. Add 1 cup of Saaz hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add 1 tsp of Irish Moss in the last 15 minutes of the boil.
- 5
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort quickly to around 20°C (68°F) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
- 6
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel, pitch the yeast, and seal with an airlock. Allow it to ferment for 1-2 weeks at around 18-20°C (64-68°F).
- 7
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve 3 tablespoons of priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer and cap it.
- 8
Conditioning
Store the bottles at room temperature for 1-2 weeks for carbonation. Then refrigerate and enjoy your Propeller Pilsner!
