Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and sea salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet or a large cast-iron skillet with olive oil.

  6. 6

    Shape the Focaccia

Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Spread it out to fit the pan, making dimples with your fingers.

  7. 7

    Add Toppings

Drizzle more olive oil over the top and sprinkle with sea salt. Optionally, add herbs or toppings of your choice.

  8. 8

    Second Rise

Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.

  9. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  10. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
