Preparation
Chill the Glass
Begin by chilling your cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.
Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of High West Bourbon, 1 oz of Sweet Vermouth, and 1 oz of Campari.
Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for about 30 seconds, allowing the ingredients to chill and dilute slightly.
Strain into Glass
Empty the ice water from your chilled cocktail glass. Strain the mixed cocktail into the glass using a strainer.
Garnishing
Prepare the Orange Twist
Using a vegetable peeler or a knife, cut a strip of orange peel about 1 inch wide and 3 inches long. Make sure to avoid the white pith as much as possible.
Garnish the Drink
Twist the orange peel over the drink to release the oils, then drop it into the cocktail as a garnish.
