Cook the Bacon
In a large pot over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and crumble, leaving the bacon fat in the pot.

Add Potatoes and Flour
Stir in diced potatoes and flour. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Combine Broth and Cream
Gradually add chicken broth, stirring to avoid lumps. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes until potatoes are tender.

Add Clams and Seasonings
Stir in chopped clams, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, thyme, and bay leaf. Simmer for 10 more minutes without boiling.

Remove bay leaf, serve hot in bowls with crumbled bacon on top and a side of crackers.
