Method
Preparation
- 1
Clean the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any dirt. Remove any beards (the fibrous strands) from the mussels and discard any that are open and do not close when tapped.
Cooking

- 3
Add Wine and Seasonings
Pour in the dry white wine and add the salt and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, allowing it to cook for about 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
- 4
Cook the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, covering it with a lid. Steam the mussels for about 5-7 minutes, or until they have fully opened. Discard any mussels that remain closed.
- 5
Finish the Sauce
Once the mussels are cooked, stir in the chopped fresh parsley, allowing it to wilt slightly in the heat. Adjust seasoning to taste with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Serving
- 6
Serve the Dish
Transfer the mussels into serving bowls, ladling the white wine and garlic sauce over them. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the mussels.
