Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Sticks

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This helps prevent them from melting too quickly during cooking.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer. First, coat each stick in flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip them in the beaten eggs, and finally coat them with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure they are fully coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test it by dropping a breadcrumb in; it should sizzle.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully place the breaded mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook the Garlic

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.

  3. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 9

    Serve

Once the sauce is ready, remove from heat. Serve the mozzarella sticks hot with the marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
