Method

Crab Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crabs

Fill a large pot with 1 gallon of water, adding 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of vinegar, and 1 cup of Old Bay seasoning. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Add the Crabs

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the live blue crabs to the pot. Be cautious, as the crabs may try to escape.

  3. 3

    Cook the Crabs

Cover the pot and let the crabs cook for 15-20 minutes or until they turn a vibrant red color. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  4. 4

    Drain and Cool

Once cooked, remove the pot from heat and carefully drain the crabs into a colander. Let them cool for a few minutes before handling.

Serving Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of butter.

  2. 6

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add 4 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Season the Sauce

Stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning. Cook for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld.

  4. 8

    Finish with Parsley

Remove the sauce from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley for a burst of freshness.
