Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Seafood

Rinse the clams and mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt. Discard any clams or mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ingredients

Chop the fresh basil and mince the garlic. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Seafood

Add the clams, mussels, sea scallops, and shrimp to the pot. Stir gently to combine.

  3. 5

    Add Wine and Simmer

Pour in the white wine. Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the pot. Allow the seafood to cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams and mussels open and the shrimp and scallops are cooked through.

  4. 6

    Season and Finish

Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the chopped fresh basil and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Discard any unopened clams or mussels.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Hot

Ladle the seafood and broth into bowls and serve immediately. Enjoy with crusty bread for dipping!
