Crab Ball Mixture

Method

Crab Balls Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, cream cheese, green onions, parsley, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

  2. 2

    Add Binding Agent

Add the beaten egg to the crab mixture and mix until the mixture holds together. If too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs as needed.

  3. 3

    Shape the Balls

Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of the mixture into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Crab Balls

Carefully place the crab balls in the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 6

    Drain and Cool

Once cooked, remove the crab balls from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Stir until well blended.

  2. 8

    Serve

Transfer the cocktail sauce to a serving dish. Serve alongside the fried crab balls for dipping.
