Preparation Instructions
Prepare the Lentils
Rinse the green lentils under cold water. In a pot, add the lentils and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 20-25 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
Make the Tamarind Sauce
In a small bowl, mix the tamarind paste with 2 tablespoons of water to loosen it. Add minced garlic and chopped cilantro to the mixture. Stir well and set aside.
Prepare the Dumplings
If using premade bread dumplings, follow the package instructions for heating. If making from scratch, combine bread pieces with water and seasonings, then shape into dumplings and boil until they float.
Assemble the Dish
In a serving bowl, layer the cooked lentils, bread dumplings, and drizzle with the tamarind sauce. Top with crispy onions, crunchy bread pops, and sprinkle pomegranate seeds and fresh cilantro on top for garnish.
