Method

Prepare Ice Cream

  1. 1

    Scoop and Freeze

Scoop the vanilla ice cream into 8 equal balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.

Make Batter

  1. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

  2. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Beat the egg in a separate bowl and then add it to the dry mixture along with the milk. Mix until smooth.

Prepare Coating

  1. 4

    Crush Cornflakes

Place the cornflakes in a zip-lock bag and crush them into small pieces using a rolling pin.

  2. 5

    Mix Cornflake Coating

In a bowl, combine the crushed cornflakes, cinnamon, and sugar until evenly mixed.

Coat Ice Cream

  1. 6

    Dip Ice Cream in Batter

Remove the ice cream balls from the freezer. Dip each ball into the batter, ensuring it is completely coated.

  2. 7

    Coat with Cornflakes

Immediately roll the batter-coated ice cream in the cornflake mixture until fully coated. Return to the baking sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes.

Fry and Serve

  1. 8

    Heat Oil

In a deep fryer or a deep pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 9

    Fry Ice Cream Balls

Fry the coated ice cream balls in batches for about 10-15 seconds, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. 10

    Serve Immediately

Drizzle with honey and chocolate sauce, top with whipped cream and chopped nuts if desired. Enjoy your Amigos Fried Ice Cream!
