Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Add the flat iron steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Add sliced onion and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes). Set aside.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove steak from marinade and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Let rest for a few minutes, then slice against the grain.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Panini

On a slice of panini bread, layer sliced steak, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and provolone cheese. Top with another slice of bread.

  5. 5

    Grill the Panini

Heat a panini press or skillet over medium heat. Grill the assembled panini for about 3-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.
