Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Spread Dijon mustard on one side of each slice of country white bread.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, layer 2 slices of Black Forest ham followed by 1/2 cup of Gruyere cheese and 1/2 cup of Provolone cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread, mustard side down.

  3. 3

    Butter the Sandwich

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the top of each sandwich.

  4. 4

    Cook the Sandwich

In a skillet over medium heat, place the sandwiches butter side down. Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip the sandwiches, add the remaining butter to the skillet, and cook until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted, another 3-4 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
