Ale Battered Fish
Method
Fish Preparation
- 1
Prepare the batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the ale while stirring until the batter is smooth and thick.
- 2
Heat the oil
In a deep frying pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Batter the fish
Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Dip each fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 4
Fry the fish
Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
