Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pizza Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 250°C (482°F) or the highest setting.

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal parts. Roll out each part on a floured surface into a round shape, about 12 inches in diameter.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Spread a thin layer of the prepared sauce over each pizza base. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top, then add sliced tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.

  4. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the pizzas to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  5. 10

    Finish with Balsamic Reduction

Remove the pizzas from the oven, drizzle with balsamic reduction, and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
