Meatballs
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- 2
Shape the Meatballs
Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get around 12 meatballs from this mixture.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of oil and brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Once browned, add the San Marzano tomato sauce, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- 4
Prepare the Bread
While the meatballs are simmering, grill the slices of bread until golden brown.
- 5
Serve
Once the meatballs are cooked through, serve them hot with the tomato sauce over grilled bread. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
