Preparation of Vanilla Budino

1. Prepare the Custard

In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is hot but not boiling.

2. Whisk the Egg Yolks

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.

3. Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the hot milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs. Then return the combined mixture to the saucepan.

4. Cook the Custard

Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

5. Add Vanilla

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the custard into serving cups and refrigerate until set, at least 4 hours.
