Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chickpeas
If you prefer smoother hummus, peel the chickpeas by gently pinching each one to remove the skin. This step is optional but recommended.
- 2
Mince the Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. You can use a garlic press for a finer consistency.
Blending
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a food processor, add the canned chickpeas, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, and salt.
- 4
Blend
Process the mixture until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary. If it's too thick, add water, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
Serving
- 5
Transfer and Garnish
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with additional olive oil, and sprinkle paprika and chopped fresh parsley on top for garnish.
- 6
Serve
Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or as a spread on sandwiches.
