Directions
- 1
Prepare the Fava Beans
Rinse the fava beans under cold water. If using dried fava beans, soak them in water overnight and then boil them until tender. If using canned fava beans, simply drain and rinse them.
- 2
Mash the Fava Beans
In a mixing bowl, add the fava beans and mash them using a fork or potato masher until you reach a smooth consistency, leaving some small chunks for texture.
- 3
Add Garlic and Spices
Finely mince the garlic cloves and add them to the mashed fava beans. Add the hot pepper (finely chopped or crushed), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
- 4
Incorporate Lemon Juice and Olive Oil
Pour in the lemon juice and olive oil, mixing thoroughly until the mixture is creamy. Adjust the seasoning with additional salt, black pepper, or lemon juice to taste.
- 5
Serve
Transfer the foul to a serving dish. Drizzle extra olive oil on top, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve warm or at room temperature with pita bread or vegetables.
