Method
Preparation of Filling
- 1
Prepare the Vegetables
In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, sliced bell pepper, and chopped green onions.
- 2
Add Aromatics
Add minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to the vegetable mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- 3
Set Aside
Let the filling mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Wrapping
- 4
Soak the Rice Paper
Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10 seconds until it softens, then place it on a clean surface.
- 5
Fill and Roll
Place 2 tablespoons of the vegetable filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll from the bottom up to enclose the filling tightly.
- 6
Repeat
Repeat the soaking and rolling process with the remaining rice paper wrappers and filling.
Frying
- 7
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
- 8
Fry the Spring Rolls
Carefully place a few spring rolls in the hot oil, frying them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- 9
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried spring rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with dipping sauce.
