Remove the stems and seeds from the pasilla peppers and chili de arbol. Rinse them under cold water and set aside.

In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the pasilla peppers and chili de arbol until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Turn them frequently to prevent burning.
