Directions

1

Prepare the Chips

Peel and cut the potatoes into thick strips. Rinse under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

2

Fry the Chips

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. When hot, fry the potato strips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

3

Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, stirring until smooth.

4

Prepare the Fish

Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel. Dip each fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

5

Fry the Fish

In the same oil used for the chips, carefully lower the battered fish into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

6

Serve

Serve the beer-battered fish with the chips, salad, tartare sauce, and lemon wedges on the side.
