Method
Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken into the hot oil. Fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
Hot Honey Harissa Sauce
- 6
Make the Sauce
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, harissa paste, apple cider vinegar, and salt. Stir until well mixed and heated through. Remove from heat and set aside.
Roasted Red Bell Pepper Coleslaw
- 7
Prepare the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, grated carrots, sliced roasted red bell peppers, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Toss until well combined. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
