Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, eggs, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  4. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, gently add them to the marinara sauce. Allow them to simmer together for an additional 10 minutes.

Serving Setup

  1. 8

    Prepare Serving Station

On a serving platter, arrange the baked rolls. Place the meatballs in marinara sauce in the center, topped with slices of provolone cheese.

  2. 9

    Garnish

Sprinkle grated Romano cheese over the meatballs and provide additional Romano cheese in a shaker for guests.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve warm and enjoy your Cap's Meatball Bar™!
