Brownie Layer

    Preheat the Oven

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

    Melt the Butter

    In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat.

    Mix Sugars

    Once melted, remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar until well combined.

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

    Beat in 4 large eggs, one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

    Combine Dry Ingredients

    In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt.

    Mix Everything Together

    Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

    Pour into the Dish

    Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

    In a large bowl, beat together 0.5 cups of unsalted butter, 0.5 cups of granulated sugar, and 0.5 cups of brown sugar until creamy.

    Add 1 large egg and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, mixing until well incorporated.

    In a separate bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.5 tsp of baking soda, and 0.25 tsp of salt.

    Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

    Carefully spread the cookie dough over the brownie layer in the baking dish.

Baking

    Bake

    Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.

    Cool and Serve

    Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
