Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Take an old fashioned glass and place it on a stable surface.

  2. 2

    Add Sugar and Bitters

In the glass, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can adjust the amount of sugar to taste.

  3. 3

    Muddle the Ingredients

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle the sugar and bitters together until the sugar starts to dissolve.

  4. 4

    Add Bourbon

Pour in 2 ounces of bourbon over the muddled sugar and bitters mixture.

  5. 5

    Add Ice

Add 3 ice cubes to the glass, allowing them to chill the drink.

  6. 6

    Stir the Mixture

Using a bar spoon or a regular spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 10-15 seconds to combine the flavors.

  7. 7

    Garnish with Orange

Take a slice of orange and twist it over the glass to release its oils, then drop it in as a garnish.
