Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Watermelon Puree

In a blender, add the fresh watermelon chunks and blend until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any pulp, yielding about 4 oz of watermelon juice.

  2. 2

    Make Jalapeño Syrup

In a saucepan, combine equal parts of water and sugar and add sliced jalapeños. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool before straining out the jalapeños.

Mixing the Cocktail

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of Bahnez Mezcal, 4 oz of watermelon puree, 1 oz of lime juice, and 0.5 oz of jalapeño syrup.

  2. 4

    Shake and Strain

Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Strain the mixture into a chilled glass.

Garnishing

  1. 5

    Add Garnish

Garnish your drink with a slice of watermelon and a slice of jalapeño on the rim of the glass.
