Method

Steak Preparation

1

Season the Steak

Pat the New York strip steaks dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the steaks with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary. Allow the steaks to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

2

Preheat the Grill/Pan

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for at least 5 minutes.

3

Cook the Steak

Place the steaks on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Use a meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 130°F for medium-rare.

4

Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Whipped Potatoes Preparation

5

Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the russet potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

6

Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

7

Serve

Spoon the whipped potatoes onto plates and serve alongside the grilled New York strip steaks.
