Cooking the Pasta

Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.

Cook the Spaghetti
Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions (usually about 8-10 minutes) until al dente.

Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water and then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
Preparing the Toppings

Sauté the Garlic
In the same pot or a skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes
Add 250 grams of halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until the tomatoes start to soften.

Season and Serve
Stir in 10 chopped basil leaves, 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper to taste. Toss everything together and serve hot.
