Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Spaghetti

Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions (usually about 8-10 minutes) until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water and then drain the spaghetti in a colander.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 4

    Sauté the Garlic

In the same pot or a skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Add 250 grams of halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until the tomatoes start to soften.

  3. 6

    Combine with Spaghetti

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the tomatoes and garlic. Toss to combine. If the pasta seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water.

  4. 7

    Season and Serve

Stir in 10 chopped basil leaves, 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper to taste. Toss everything together and serve hot.
