Pickles Preparation

Prepare the Pickles
Slice the dill pickles into 1/4 inch thick slices and set aside.

Make the Battering Mixture
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Prepare the Wet Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk until smooth.

Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice in the wet mixture, then coat it in the dry batter mixture.

Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the coated pickle slices into the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).

Drain the Pickles
Remove the fried pickles and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the ranch dressing, hot sauce, and dried dill. Mix well until fully combined.
