Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Macaroni

Add 2 cups of whole wheat macaroni to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-9 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the macaroni and set aside.

Preparing Turkey Mixture

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

Add 1 diced medium onion and 1 diced medium bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. 6

    Cook Ground Turkey

Add 1 pound of ground turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Garlic and Seasoning

Stir in 2 teaspoons of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  5. 8

    Add Diced Tomatoes

Pour in 1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 oz) with their juices. Stir well and let simmer for 5-10 minutes until heated through.

Add the drained macaroni to the turkey mixture in the skillet. Stir until well combined.

  2. 10

  3. 11

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional cheese if desired.
