Base

Method

Prepare Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew 2 cups of strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the coffee once cooled.

Make Filling

  1. 2

    Whip Cream

In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.

  2. 3

    Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar

In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  3. 4

    Add Mascarpone and Vanilla

Gently fold the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

  4. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined, ensuring not to deflate the cream.

Assemble Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 7

    Layer Ladyfingers

Place a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x9 inch (or similar size) dish.

  3. 8

    Add Filling

Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the layer of ladyfingers.

  4. 9

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.

Chill and Serve

  1. 10

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 11

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
