Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of Angus beef with 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Cook the Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice sear forms. Flip the patties.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

Immediately place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty after flipping. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.

Prepare Toppings and Assemble

  1. 6

    Prep the Vegetables

While the burgers are cooking, wash and prepare the lettuce, slice the tomato and onion.

  2. 7

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, spread 2 tablespoons of special sauce. Layer with lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion slices, and then top with the other half of the bun.
