Method

Prepare Chicken Wings

1

Marinate Chicken Wings

In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken wings to the mixture and ensure they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.

2

Prepare Coating

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

3

Coat Chicken Wings

Remove chicken wings from the marinade, shaking off excess buttermilk. Dredge each wing in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.

4

Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry Chicken Wings

Carefully add the coated chicken wings to the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Drain on paper towels.

6

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

7

Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the egg and then whisk in milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

8

Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are okay.

9

Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your Belgian waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

10

Cook Waffles

Once preheated, pour enough batter into the waffle iron to just cover the surface. Close the lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown.
