Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steak

Add the steaks to the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving them, until a brown crust forms.

  4. 4

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steaks using tongs and add the garlic and rosemary to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into equal-sized pieces. Place in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.

  2. 7

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash with a potato masher until smooth.

  3. 8

    Add Ingredients

Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until creamy and combined.

  4. 9

    Serve

Scoop the mashed potatoes onto plates, and serve alongside the sliced ribeye steak.
