Method

Prepare the Pork Belly

  1. 1

    Season the Pork Belly

Rub the pork belly with salt, black pepper, and five spice powder on all sides. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  3. 3

    Prepare the Glaze

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar.

  4. 4

    Roast the Pork Belly

Place the seasoned pork belly on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, skin side up. Roast in the preheated oven for 2 to 2.5 hours, basting with the glaze every 30 minutes, until the skin is crispy and the meat is tender.

  5. 5

    Slice and Serve

Once done, let the pork belly rest for 15 minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.

Prepare the Pickled Cucumber

  1. 6

    Slice the Cucumber

Thinly slice the cucumber and place it in a bowl.

  2. 7

    Make the Pickling Liquid

In a separate bowl, mix together the salt, sugar, rice vinegar, and water until dissolved.

  3. 8

    Pickle the Cucumber

Pour the pickling liquid over the cucumber slices. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Serve the Dish

  1. 9

    Plate the Pork Belly

On a serving plate, arrange the sliced pork belly.

  2. 10

    Add Pickled Cucumber

Top the pork belly with the pickled cucumbers.

  3. 11

    Drizzle Hoisin Sauce

Finish the dish by drizzling hoisin sauce over the top.
