Potato Chips

Tortilla Chips

Method

Potato Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potato Slices

Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potato Slices

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a handful of potato slices to the hot oil, frying them in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let the chips cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade potato chips!

Tortilla Chips

  1. 8

    Cut the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

  2. 9

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.

  3. 10

    Fry the Tortilla Wedges

Add a few tortilla wedges to the hot oil, frying in batches until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  4. 11

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried tortilla chips to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. While still warm, sprinkle with salt.

  5. 12

    Serve

Let the tortilla chips cool slightly before serving with salsa, guacamole, or your favorite dip.
