Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 2-3 minutes until smooth.

Shape the Buñuelos
Divide the dough into small balls, then flatten each ball to about 1/4 inch thick.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the buñuelos until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

Remove the buñuelos from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm, optionally dusted with sugar.
