Preparation Steps
1. Prepare the Crab Cake Mixture
In a large bowl, combine blue crab meat, hand peeled shrimp (chopped), cilantro, bread crumbs, beaten egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
2. Form the Crab Cakes
Using your hands, form the mixture into patties about 2 inches in diameter. Place the formed crab cakes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
3. Chill the Crab Cakes
Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help the cakes hold their shape.
4. Cook the Crab Cakes
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the crab cakes and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
5. Serve
Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and let them rest on a paper towel. Serve hot with avocado aioli and drizzle with chili garlic crunch sauce. Garnish with frisée and fennel.
