Mash and Season
Once the potatoes are cool, mash them in a large bowl. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, flour, and the egg. Mix until well combined.

Shape the Tater Tots
Using your hands, shape the potato mixture into small cylinders or balls, about 1 inch in size.

Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Tater Tots
Carefully add the shaped tater tots to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
