Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugars
Stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar into the melted butter until well combined.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- 6
Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 7
Add Chocolate Chips
If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- 8
Bake
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve
Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve.
